In support of the 114th observance of the 114th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and the International Cleanup Day, the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso, will be joining the rest of the City Government in cleaning up the coastal barangays of the City on September 13, 2014 (Saturday). The City has nine coastal barangays namely, Bool, Mansasa, Poblacion I, Poblacion II, Cogon, Booy, Taloto, Ubujan and Manga. The whole Sangguniang Panlungsod, Vice-Mayor’s office and the Office of the Secretary will be assigned to clean the Poblacion I Causeway Fish Port. The Hon. Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso and his fellow SP councilors gamely joined the SP staff and employees in picking up trash and other waste that pollutes the sea waters and harm the marine resources.
Aside from coastal clean-up, the City Government also had Mangrove Planting Activities in the selected barangays of Bool, Mansasa, Taloto, Ubujan and Manga.
With the efforts of the City Government in initiating the cleanup of our Coastal Barangays, it is hoped that it will influence barangay officials to continue to monitor the cleanliness of the coastal areas and help protect the marine resources.
