During the regular session of the Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Hon. Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso, a Resolution was passed creating a partnership between the City of Tagbilaran and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The Resolution particularly grants the City Government of Tagbilaran access to the Geospatial Information Management and Analysis Project for Hazards and Risk Assessment in the Philippines or “Geo Risk.” PHILVOCS has been mandated to study hazards related to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other related information. Thus, this partnership will allow formulation of appropriate data fields for contribution of information into the Geo Risk integrated database thru the GeoRIskPH platform that will help in the research and development projects of DOST. This will also allow the City of Government of Tagbilaran to utilize hazards information for the GeoRiskPH system to conduct hazards and risk assessment.The Resolution is sponsored by Hon.
