The Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Hon. Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso, passed a Resolution giving a go-signal to the “Yes to Adopt a Pet” Program. It is the duty of the City Government of Tagbilaran, through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO), to safeguard the welfare of stray animals, and the residents of the city. Stray dogs have caused a number of road accidents over the past few years. Thus, in partnership with Bohol Animal Rescue and Kindness, Inc (BARK), the City of Tagbilaran is bent on solving the stray problem of the city, thereafter also reducing road accidents caused by stray dogs.BARK is a registered non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to help animals in need, solve the stray population through various projects, education and adoption programs, promote responsible and humane ownership, and provide a nurturing environment for abused, abandoned and tortured animals. BARK also facilitates, validates, assists and educates new owners for the proper adoption of strays and impounded pets collected by CAVO. This program ensures that the new pet owners are properly oriented and educated through a seminar about the adoption policies, and to guarantee the freedom of these animals from hunger, thirst, discomfort, pain, injury, disease, fear and distress.The Resolution is sponsored by Hon.
