The 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran City, led by Vice Mayor Adam Relson L. Jala, welcomed Atty. Marlita V. Dagsa, Chief – Intellectual Property Rights Office Enforcement Office and Ms. Janette Payoyo of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The IPOPHL is the government agency in charge of the registration of intellectual property and conflict resolution of intellectual property rights in the Philippines. Part of IPHO’s mandate is to coordinate with local government units to formulate and implement plans and policies to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the country. In active support to the policy of the national government to curb the proliferation of pirated, counterfeit and fake goods, and in furtherance of the duty to protect the general welfare of the people of Tagbilaran, the 15th SP is set to approve Proposed Ordinance No. 09-23, curtailing the sale, rental, transfer, distribution, manufacture, and/or production of pirated, non-compliant, counterfeit or fake goods, articles, medicines, or services within the jurisdiction of the City of Tagbilaran.
