Presentation of JICA-funded Septage Treatment Plant in the City

Several members of the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod and their representatives attended a consultative meeting called by the Committee on Health and Environment, led by Hon. Malvin Misael “Atoy” Torralba on May 24, 2023 at the JJs Seafood Village Restaurant.
Present during the meeting were Engr. Ronald Navarro from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ms. Jovencia Ganub and Mr. Jeffrey Escaso from the Bohol Environment Management Office. Engr. Navarro presented the proposed JICA-funded Septage Treatment Plant (STP) to be constructed near the Integrated Bus Terminal. The STP with a 24 cubic meter cacapcity will be providing water treatment services to the City of Tagbilaran and the Municipalities of Dauis and Panglao.
Currently, the design for the proposed STP is already complete and a draft memorandum of agreement was already presented but will still be deliberated by the Provincial Government. City Government and Municipal Governments of Dauis and Panglao.
While the necessary permits and zonal requirements being prepared, Hon. Nerio D. Zamora suggested that it is high time that the dialogues among the involved municipalities begin so that discussion on the status of the Badjao community will also be tackled.
