15th SP APPROVES FREE ISSANCE OF CIVIL REGISTRY DOCUMENTS EVERY FEBRUARY
In time for the celebration of the Civil Registration month this February and in recognition of the importance of civil registration and the critical role of civil registrars in safeguarding the civil rights of individuals, the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod approved an ordinance which would allow individuals to avail of civil registration documents, such as birth, marriage, death certificates, and other essential records at the Office of the City Civil Registrar at no cost.
However, said ordinance shall not cover requests for documents involving late registration, petitions for correction of entries, and other special requests that require additional legal proceedings or fees
The free issuance of civil registry documents shall take effect from February 1st to February 28th of every year.
The Civil Registration Month is a nationwide month-long celebration observed every year in order to enhance awareness about civil registration and its importance and how it affects each and everyone’s lives. It also reminds the citizenry that it is our duty to register vital events concerning the legal status of a person such as birth, death and marriage.
