In support of the Tagbilaran City Government’s relentless effort in reviving the economic activity by providing employment opportunities to its constituents, the Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved a resolution authorizing the City Mayor Jane Yap to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment- Region VII.

The resolution, sponsored by Hon. Jonas Cacho, ensures the successful implementation of the Tulong sa Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) Program in Tagbilaran City by the DOLE-RO No. VII in partnership with the city government.

The TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.

Although there has been a significant decrease in the nationwide unemployment rate, the City is still cognizant of many unemployed and displaced workers in Tagbilaran. Through the implementation of TUPAD, it is hoped that it will make an impact on the lives of displaced workers and that through their hard work, can earn money for their families’ consumption or perhaps for small business start-ups.
