During their regular session at 9:00 am today, the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod,led by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso , passed on final reading the proposed Annual Budget of the City Government which sets out revenue estimates and expenditures at P 1, 050,011,086.00 for year 2019.
The annual budget reflects the priority thrusts and programs of the City Government. 51% of the total appropriation is allocated for General Public Services, 24% for Economic Services, 11% for Health, 10% for Social Services and Welfare, and 4% for the calamity fund reserve of the City.
Among the projects and programs that will be funded from the 1.05B budget are the concreting of city roads, installation of street lighting facilities, scholarships and various health and welfare programs. The City Budget also includes the increase in the salaries and wages of job order personnel.
The approval of the 2019 Appropriation Ordinance came after two days of deliberation by the City Council during the budget hearing conducted on November 14-15 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall. The Ordinance is sponsored by Appropriation and Accounts Committee Chairperson, City Councilor Adam Relson Jala .
