In recognition of the pivotal role that our overseas Filipino workers play in our economy, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas has established an e-government project called BaLinkBayan. The project aims to provide better services for OFWs by allowing them to make online inquiries and transact business with the government even though they are abroad.
Seeing the importance of the BaLinkBayan project, the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod led by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso approved a resolution authorizing the City Mayor John Geesnell L. Yap II to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the CFO for the localization of the BaLinkBayan project. Hon. Greggy S. Gatal , sponsor of the said resolution, expounded that the localization would mean the establishment, development and maintenance of BaLinkBayan web page featuring mainstream and migration initiatives specific to the City of Tagbilaran.
