The Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Tagbilaran, led by Hon. Jose Antonio S. Veloso, has passed four resolutions granting an extension on the deadline of the payment of business taxes for every quarter for the year 2021. In the recent study conducted by Step-Up Consulting Services, 42% of the businesses in the city have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, with some even facing closure and bankruptcy in the next six months. The Sangguniang Panlungsod deemed it necessary to help these businesses gradually recover from their losses. As stated in Section 7A.03, Chapter 7 of City Ordinance RC-001, or otherwise known as the Revenue Code of the City of Tagbilaran, the Sangguniang may, for justifiable reason or cause, extend the time of the payment of taxes, fees or charges without surcharges or penalties, but only for a period not exceeding six months. It is in this regard that the deadline for the payment of business taxes shall be extended from January 20, 2021 to March 22, 2021 for the First Quarter, from April 20, 2021 to June 22, 2021 for the Second Quarter, from July 20, 2021 to September 22, 2021 for the Third Quarter, and from October 20, 2021 to November 22, 2021 for the Fourth Quarter, without incurring any interest or surcharges. Hon. Joseph T. Bompat, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, sponsored the Resolutions.
