The City of Tagbilaran has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines Inc. (CCFPI), City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Bohol Integrated Development Foundation Inc. (BIDEF) and Balay Mindanaw Foundation Inc. (BMFI) in the installation of handwashing facilities in strategic public places, like the city plaza, public markets, fish ports, sea ports and terminals, and the promotion of proper handwashing. Currently, the number of handwashing stations with accessible water and soap in public areas in Tagbilaran City remains very limited. The Resolution was passed during the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod last September 4, 2020 at the SP Session Hall, which was led by Hon. Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso. The importance of the promotion of proper handwashing can best be achieved through increased access to handwashing services for vendors, market goers, the travelling public, health care worker and patients, among others. USAID shall then provide technical assistance to the local government and water service providers in business continuity and recovery planning, information education and communication, and the installation of handwashing facilities with continuous supply of water and soap. The Resolution is sponsored by Hon. Jose Esteban Timoteo Butalid.
