The Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Honorable Vice Mayor Jose Antonio “Toto” S. Veloso, passed a Resolution approving the release of the City Allocation Fund for calendar year 2021 for the implementation of the souvenir items manufacturing business as a socio-economic development program for out-of-school youths in Tagbilaran City. It is important to note that the City Government of Tagbilaran and the Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA) entered into an agreement back in July 7, 2017 for the implementation of the Plastic Recycling Project for Improving Women’s Income (PRP-IWI) in Tagbilaran City. That said project made use of recycled plastics in the creation of plastic sheets, tote bags, pouches, wallets, wood veneer jewelries, passport holders, posters, place mats, and slippers, which are on demand in countries like Japan, Thailand, United Kingdom and Ecuador, to name a few. This current proposed project will also make use of recycled plastics in the production of plastic sheets to be utilized as raw materials for other projects. The creativity and the innovative abilities of the out-of-school youth beneficiaries shall be further enhanced and developed, in designing and creating souvenirs, tokens and giveaways for all occasions, and even other related items using the latest 3D technology in printing and cutting. The proposed souvenir items manufacturing business shall be implemented in collaboration with JICA, Bohol Integrated Development Foundation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Bohol, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bohol Island State University, University of Bohol, Holy Name University and the Tagbilaran City People’s Council, whose roles and functions have been clearly defined. The Resolution is sponsored by Hon. Dulce C. Glovasa, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Food, Fisheries Resources, Livelihood and Cooperatives.
