In a move to properly recognize the efforts and acknowledge the risky nature of the job order workers assigned at the City Health Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso, passed an ordinance reclassifying the CHO and CDRRMO job order workers from non-skilled workers to Technical/Hazardous Workers. The ordinance, sponsored by Hon. Dulce C. Glovasa, is an amendment to the previously passed ordinance No. C-271, series of 2018 which previously classified the job order workers assigned in the CHO and CDRRMO as non-skilled workers with a daily wage of P280. However, the meager daily wage of P280 is not commensurate with their duties as frontliners and the risk they face with their daily exposure to Covid patients. The amended ordinance will reclassify these job order workers from non-skilled to technical/hazardous, thus, allowing them to have a daily wage of P330, which is a P50-increase from their previous daily rate.
