During their regular session last June 25 at the SP Sandugo Session Hall, the Fourteenth Sangguniang Panlungsod, spearheaded by Honorable Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso, passed a Resolution allowing the City Government of Tagbilaran to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Diocese of Tagbilaran for the utilization of the latter’s standby sewing machines to be used by the women beneficiaries of a livelihood project implemented by the city government. The City Government of Tagbilaran has been initiating a comprehensive livelihood program capacitating interested women in the city to undergo skills training in sewing, tailoring, dress-making and in the production of different cloth-based products that are presently in demand in the city and other provinces in the country.Since there has been a shortage of sewing machines, the local government seeks the help of the Tagbilaran Diocese, which has idle sewing equipment, and has also been involved in providing skills training on dress-making and tailoring to the Boholano community, with the same concept as the livelihood project of the Tagbilaran City government. This partnership aims to empower interested women in their quest for economic growth, and to be able to support their families with a decent income, amidst this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. This Resolution is sponsored by Hon. Dulce C. Glovasa, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Resources, Livelihood and Cooperatives.
