CITY COUNCIL PUSHES FOR LIVELIHOOD COUNCIL RE-ORG

Hon. Dulce Amelia C. Glovasa, Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Food, Fisheries Resources, Livelihood and Cooperative, passed during the March 6 regular session, an ordinance for the re-organization of the City Livelihood Council of Tagbilaran. Said ordinance came about after City Mayor John Geesnell L. Yap II, recommended that amendments be made to the structure and composition of the City Livelihood Council to further strengthen and ameliorate the process of releasing the city livelihood budget and programs.
In the amended ordinance, the City Livelihood Council shall be composed of the following:
(1) The Local Chief Executive or his duly designated and/or authorized representative from the office of the Local Chief Executive (City Mayor’s Office);
(2) The Chairman of the Committee on Cooperative, Agriculture, Urban Poor Affairs and Livelihood of the Sangguniang Panlungsod;
(3) The City Welfare and Development Officer;
(4) The City Agriculture Officer or any designated and/or authorized representative from the office;
(5) A representative from the local office of the Department of Trade and Industry;
(6) A representative from the local office of the Department of Labor and Employment;
(7) A representative from the Liga ng mga Barangay
(8) A representative from the Sangguniang Kabataan;
(9) A representative from the Civil Society Organizations, registered NGO’s, PO’s and COOP’s based in Tagbilaran;
The Livelihood Council of Tagbilaran shall assist the Local Chief Executive in setting the direction of livelihood and social development and coordinating development effort within its territorial jurisdiction.
The ordinance was duly approved during the regular session presided by City Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso.
